A little bit more about our family…
What a weird thing to write about. In short, we are completely inadequate ragamuffins, saved by God’s grace through Christ, with a call to spread the amazing news of God’s wonderful kindness and love to those who’ve never heard. We are a family trying to live out our passion for God and our passion for people in practical, daily ways. We love our family and our God. And we think he is pretty much worthy of everything we have to offer.
We believe in the Arithmetic of the Almighty. That is, God doesn’t care how much we have (or don’t have), he just wants it all. And we’re in the process of learning how to give it all, for Christ and because of the Cross. We’re trying to live all for One. We’re trying to remember the reality of eternity, both for those who know Christ and those who don’t.
Between the two of us, we have degrees in law, nursing, and chemical engineering, so we’re pretty well equipped for the mission field in Cambodia. [Insert chuckles here.] In reality, though, we look back at our lives and our marriage and we’re so grateful for each step (various colleges, youth ministry, nursing, etc.) and we believe that God has been especially preparing us for this next step of cross-cultural church planting.

“On Being Safe”
When Jonathan stepped off the plane from Cambodia I gave him the Phil Wickham CD Heaven and Earth. It is such a treasure. In fact, the 6th song on the album, Safe, helped me say YES to overseas missions. It echoed something Wendy Gibson, one of our Team Expansion coaches, told me: I can trust God to be with me across the ocean. The chorus sings: “You will be safe in His arms, the hands that hold the world are holding your heart. This is the promise He made, He will be with you always, when everything is falling apart you will be safe in His arms.” Those words gave and give me comfort in knowing God is always with me, wherever I am. Somehow I had forgotten. Phil and Wendy reminded me.

I loved that song and needed to be reminded of that thought-that we are safe in his arms. I’m tempted to get the album…
